Alternator internal bearing went kaput....

The other day the air circulation blend door went on my 02' Saab Linear and now the alternator pulley bearings went. As I was trying to figure out what's the best solution to fix my issue with the blend door, then bang the belt broke as I was driving home from work due to a bad internal pulley bearing on the alternator. I never had this problem before with a dozen of my previous 900's or the 9000's series. Shouldn't an alternator should last past 122K shouldn't it? Belt, pulleys were all good at the time the pulley bearings went.
Another good reason to donate / trade-in this 9-5 for a Kia or step up to a BMW 3's series.
