I was thinking of the 2008 Kia Optima or a 2002 325xi model. I do also own a 92' 325i w/173K miles on it and so far, I only have to replaced the pulleys, fuel pump, brakes, and the radiator. The BMW still start, drives like a dream. However, I gave this to my son when he turned 16 and that's when I bought my 02' Saab. Doesn't matter what outside temperature, the BMW starts with a half of a turn of the key. Oh, it doesn't burn or use any oil.
However, on the Saab, I've had numerous replacement parts, so much that I can't even remember all of it. I do know that the most expensive part that I had to replaced was the turbo at 78K miles. With 122K, the Saab used a little bit of oil even I changed out the motor oil at between 4-5K miles with M1 full synthetic. No sludge as I have a pros checked it out when the turbo went.
As for Kia, it's boring, but it's more dependable & reliable than the Saab. I was thinking more of a 07' or 08' model Optima. The handling of the Optima is as good as the 9-5 Linear models or better. At my age, I don't need any thrills, just the reliability or dependability. All of these cars can be had for less than 10K.
All I know is that, I will own another car before I dump more $$$ & energy into this Saab.
