Could be - they go bad, but not often. Neither of my 9-5's has needed a wheel bearing. First thing to do is eliminate tires as a possible source - check if they are worn or feathered on the edges - that can create a similar noise to a bad wheel bearing. Generally tire noise will be highher pitched and wheel bearing lower pitch but aggressive sport tires that are worn can also create rumbling sounds.
