I guess I should have given a little more information. I THOUGHT I was sharp - I could have sworn that the noise was coming from the front driver's side. I immediately thought it was a bad tire. Not wanting to spend the diagnostic time with the dealer, I just ordered a new tire and had it mounted.
To my disappointment, that didn't qualm the noise. A couple of weeks later, I hit a big pothole and bent my passenger front wheel. I ordered another wheel and had it installed. At that point, I had the tires rotated...still nothing. In fact, it is much louder now. The faster you go, they higher pitch the whine. When you come to a stop, it go to a slow drone until you stop.
I am not 100% ruling the tires out - I absolutely abhor them. They are Hankook Ventur HR II - to me, the absolute worst tires I have ever owned. When the car was certified, the dealer put them on new back in April of last year - probably because they were cheap.
The dealership Wednesday told me that it could be the passenger side front bearing (one is on the way), but no guarantee. When they replace it (under warranty) the sound may still be there.
I would like to buy a whole new set of tires (and dump the Hankooks), but just cannot justify it now. If the bearing doesn't fix it, then I may just have to in a few months.
One other think - could it be something with the tranny?
Thanks for the input!
Rob
