Just did mine last week (eEuroparts took 3 weeks to deliver)
Replacement was not bad at all. Going real slow and organized, careful not to break any plastic tabs on trim, it took 3 hours start to finish.
Someone on this forum took the switch apart and cleaned it. Since the switch is riveted together, where the mounting screw goes through the rivet, I suspect it's harder to clean it than to simply replace it. If it's failing, you'll eventually replace anyway. You might not want to spend the hour+ to go back in again.
Upon removal, I think mine failed from spraying lubricant into the lock a year ago. It probably dripped into the electrical portion. Lesson learned, use dry lubricant or none at all.
No special tools involved, just hex screwdriver, flathead screwdriver for prying, a 10mm socket, and tape for marking wires.
WIS calls for dismantling shift lever and desoldering the sport mode button, but it's not necessary. Follow Jarrald's step by step. Change step 10 as directed by ADL6009.
