Been there, had that happen.
The lights fail when the small bulbs burn out. The first thing to check on the functioning of the seat heater is whether the switch unit has gone bad - the most common problem. Fastest way to check: remove the seat heater switch in question (it just pops out) and switch it with the one from the other (working) side.
If the failure to heat moves to the other side, you've found your culprit - the seat heater switch assembly. I usually just buy a used one on that giant online auction site. When you have the switch out of the car, you can replace the bulbs - they just come out with a half turn of a screwdriver. You can get replacement bulbs from Saab ($$) or find them elsewhere; personally, I like the LED alternatives, which I got from the link below.
If the failure to heat remains even after you've swapped in a known good switch assembly, you've probably got an open in the heater element circuit itself. There are lots of good posts here on how to address that problem.
