Well you guys forced me to do it - 2011 9-5
Posted by LG Aero (more from LG Aero) on Sat, 18 Feb 2012 06:44:23

I flew from NY to Michigan to get my new 9-5 Turbo 4 Premium. Made the 700 mile trip home in one day and was very happy with how comfortable the seats were. The car has the Nav system and since I had asked about this in this forum I wanted to clear some things up for others.

The CD/DVD player will recognize and play MP3 files with a folder structure and names from both CD's and DVD's. Depending on the bit rate you use that can mean a DVD can hold 60 hours of music files. Lower bit rates for talking books and the time could be 100 hours. It also plays Video DVD's in full surround sound audio, even if you don't get the audio upgrade. Of course the video portion is only displayed if the car is in Park.

All together this is really a very nice car and handles like a Saab even if it seems almost too refined. It is a shame to think that no more will be produced, clearly with better marketing, Nav as Standard on the Premium Model and somewhat lower price point it could have been very successful in the US market.

So as some of you who urged me on, I pay it forward. There are still several hundred 9-5's listed as new for sale. Many of them have small discounts, and a few have very large ones. It appears that as those dealers who were willing to have fire sale prices have pretty well sold out and others are just hanging on waiting for the lack of supply to bring prices up. Do your homework and you can still find some incredible deals, but the door is closing.
