My 1998 Saab 9-5 Manual transmission is giving me a big headache.
About 5 months ago the car began to stall and break down. After having the Transmission Module replaces twice, the car drove for a few weeks and began dying again. Just recently I had the on-board computer replaced, and this has not fixed the problem. The car will run for a short time, and then die. The engine cuts out but the electrical remains on. I have to wait about a minute before restarting, otherwise it will die imediately. After restarting the car will drive for about a minute before stalling again. Sometimes it occurs when shifting into first gear at a stop, but also has stalled just driving in a single gear.
Many of the other parts of the car have been replaced, and the mechanic cannot seem to determine what the problem is.
He has driven it without incident after making the fixes, but then it gives me trouble. One difference I noticed is when he drives it he does not have the tapedeck converter tape (for my ipod) connected. When I have driven it I have had the tape in. Could there be any connection between the engine problems and the tape deck?! I highly doubt it, but I am not expert.
ANy ideas what the problem might be?
Any suggestions?
