We went through the same exercise this past June. I wanted the '04 because it has the PCV upgrade. It also got the Info Display "SIC" upgrade and doesn't lose pixels like the older ones. The later ('05 & up) cars had the GM dash and "stylized" headlights neither of which we cared for. My wife refuses to drive minivans and SUVs and likes a really sporty vehicle. This doesn't leave many choices. BMW 5 Touring, Audi A6 Avant, and Volvo V70 T5 were considered. We drove a 9-5 ARC and it was too "soft" but we like the "Saabness". The Aero was jut the ticket for us. Great handling and brakes, good interior space, good stereo, good reliability, good highway fuel consumption, and reasonable parts prices. We constantly ask ourselves why we waited so long to buy a Saab. We had a Volvo 745T for 14 years!
