How to test the Evac Hose Purge Valve? -- 2005 9-5 Posted by scott47 [Email] (#119) [Profile/Gallery] (more from scott47) on Mon, 9 Apr 2012 21:18:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The idle of my 2005 9-5 (non-Aero) with an automatic transmission has a tendency to drop and then surge. I normally notice this when I am parked at a red light and I haven't noticed any problems while the car is actually in motion. When the idle is dropping and surging and I put the car into park the idle seems to smooth back out.
One problem I found recently was that the Throttle Body / Crankcase Oil Trap Hose (part #5955927) was broken at the check valve. I replaced it and that definitely helped, but it also made me a little crazy to get the car to run as good as I possibly can :-)
In my search I've run across the Evac Hose / Purge Valve (part #55556492) that I think may be part of the problem. Since the part is pretty expensive I am really hoping there is a way to test this before I buy a new one.
Please let me know if there is any way to test this part or if there are any other tricks or suguestions that might help.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Scott
