I think Rob's install and deck look great! I was MP3phobic until last fall, and now I am hooked. While I only have a head unit that plays one MP3 CD at a time, I greatly appreciate and understand the advantage to have as many as 150 songs on one CD. I can imagine how much nicer Rob's setup is that my 700MB at a time player, and it certainly is a route I will go in the future, when the prices come down a bit.

If the aftermarket stereo manufacturers, and the enthusiasts who install them, don't forge ahead, who will? I'm sure the automakers would be more than happy to leave things at radio/cassette/CD for another decade, despite the ENORMOUS practical advantage of MP3, not to mention it's popularity. Where do you think we'd be today if consumers hadn't been snapping up aftermarket CD head units? I'm sure the OEM radios in cars would still be radio only, or cassette, or maybe even eight track.

Like it or not, aftermarket stereos create the trickle down effect and OEM head unit eventually get the same features. I just with it didn't take so damn long to trickle down, because ever since Blaupunkt decided to change their styling and ergonomics, I can't think of a single aftermarket stereo manufacturer that has superior ergonomics to an OEM.

Why can't these folks get together and make a easy to use big button stereo WITH all the latest features such as MP3/WMA ?
