Based on where you're at, I'd guess that out there you're probably on the higher end of the labor cost range. For DIY-ing it, the wild card is how difficult the clamps are to get on/off. I think I've gotten the valve changed in less than an hour, even without the cable-driven remote clamp plier thingies (I used both regular pliers and Channel-loks). Do remember extra coolant, plus bleeding the air from the system, if need be.

Between that and changing the serp belt and pulleys, both are very much in the relatively easy DIY realm. If you have the time, give it a try--doing it successfully is quite satisfying.
