You grind the ball off the shift arm, then the bronze piece is a press fit onto the remaining cylinder. The instructions said to put a dot of loctite on the nub then use a vise to press it on. It looked easy- the shift arm comes right off and my mechanic cut the ball off with a cutting disc then cleaned it up with the bench grinder. It took about 2 mins. He put a drop of loctite on and squashed it together in the vise. It took a little bit of force with the vise- I don't think its gonna come off. The hardest part was modifying the cup, he ended up taking the battery out and pulling the cable out of the mount on the transmission to get good access with the drill. There's a hole in the cup but it had to be enlarged a little bit. I don't remember what size bit was used but it was in his set. It took Randy maybe 20 mins to do the whole thing with never having done it before. He changed me $50 (1/2 hour) and i think it was well worth it. I would have preferred to replace the cable over using gum and duct tape, but that's how I am. I had a 900 convertible that got the top fixed with a brace kit from Saab that was really cool, I wish they'd do more like this stuff at the factory level.
