I have an Arc, not an Aero. I don't believe the chassis itself is any different between an Arc/Linear/Aero - I could be wrong tho. Given that Saab is (was) a relatively low-volume vehicle, I don't think it would be economically realistic for them to produce two variations of the chassis. Although one way to attain better torsional stiffness is to use thicker sheet metal but that tends to add a lot more weight. In this scenario, the same fab line could be used. It is usually more effective to add structural members at certain locations throughout the chassis. The net effect is more rigidity with less weight.
OTOH, the bigger contributor to handling/performance would seem to be the suspension components, which are effectively 'bolt on' and much easier to do than stamping and welding in various chassis configurations.
From my perspective, getting a performance tire to adjust for body roll/snowplowing or understeer would, in my estimation, be the least bang for the buck. I'd put the $s into tuning up the suspension. That is all that I was saying.
This is just my guess...without getting into looking at the vehicle dynamics and looking at how much varying one component affects the total vehicle performance. Those are numbers & comparisons that the Saab engineers would have done.
