CV boot patched - so far so good Posted by GFW3pedals [Email] (#405) [Profile/Gallery] (more from GFW3pedals) on Thu, 27 Dec 2012 13:42:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I picked up the car from my indy recently after some work that should have been no where near the CV boots. After a few short drives I noticed a spray of grease on the inside wheel well. Further investigation showed a small hole on one of the flats of the bellows of the outer CV boot. Mysteriously the size of a flat blade screwdriver, but we won't go there. Anyway, after much fretting about a very expensive boot job, I decided to take a shot at patching it. Cleaned the area carefully, with acetone, and applied a bicycle patch. It has lasted over 1000 miles so far. Fingers crossed for many thousand more!
