Having been to Detroit several times I understand the wisdom of your maintenance schedue.
Brings back the days in buffalo NY in the early 70s a friend gave me his 1962 Mercury, I had to pick it up and the fuel line was rusted out so I rigged up temp rubber line running from the fuel pump(on the engine back then) to the tank, didn't have insurance or registration so drove it on the back streets through a scary part of the city and along the way a big german shephard darted into the street - I ran the thing over and kept going and about 200 yds later the car coasted to a stop, smelling of gas - the dog had somehow snared the low hanging fuel line and ripped it loose. Folks in that part of town didn't take kindly to having their Sheps run over so I had to crawl under the car and reconnect the fuel line and get the heck out of there - never looking back
