Both in Saab's and Volvo's using the same style brake booster.
The white coat lab rats didn't read the computer screen properly when they designed the white plastic piston and rubber o-ring at the back of booster where pedal pushrod goes in.
It said DO NOT mix these two materials with the lube you are trying to use.
But they read it as, work just fine.
Well, I actually don't know the story but I do know that the Saab and Volvo boosters fail in the same way in that the rubber seal break and gets dislodged out of it's metal casing by the constant movement of the piston/pushrod going in and out.
And the rubber seal kind of looks mushy like it has been deteriorated by wrong lube.
Since motor oil doesn't get to that side of the booster until in a very bad scenario and that the Volvo doesn't use an oil driven vacuum pump, I'm pretty sure it is something wrong with the lube contra plastic piston and choice of rubber seal.
