Yes, I agree with this. With the engine off remove the lower intercooler pipe on the driver's side. There should be no / low oil. When our V6 turbo failed, it did put quite a bit of oil. We cleaned all the pipes out, but did not need to clean the intercooler in this case. It did smoke for a bit (can't remember how long), but not more than 10 mins or so. Brown gunk actually drained out of the pipe.
I use XSBOOST for the replacement turbo in this case, it was not a self rebuild.
When turbo V6 did go, it went all at once and would have been a very good smoke laying machine for WWII navel vessels.
