The 2.3 has a very common oil leak there. People have went so far as to drop in a new head gasket and before long the oil leak returns. Depending on how much it leaks depends on what repaire needs to be done. Mine just started to leak (between the head and the block) and I stopped by an indie and mentioned it while I was visiting. The indie said leave the car overnight and ill charge you 120$ and it will be fixed. This was 2years ago and still no leaks from this motor.

My leak wasn't very much. If the car your looking at leaks like the Nile river a head gasket might be in order. Problem why the shop told the owner to just keep up on adding oil
