Just got car - love it. Had '97 Aero before, best car I ever had but I think this might be better. Clean as can be, no dings, and no rattles - very quiet, lots of power. 130k miles. I don't know what was standard - on the '97's there weren't options. It has the vented seats, 10-spoke Sport wheels. Black with tan interior. I have following concerns (3 of them):
ACC code 8 with accompanying typical symptoms, I read the posts about it so will look at it, although, it "often" seems to work - suspect loose arm from stepper motor to mixing door shaft - based on what I read and the way it acts.
Concern about sludging - what is concensus on this? Should I have the pan dropped and clean things out? Will this solve the danger for a while? It has no symptoms (at least not that I know about), I'm just worried about it. I understand there was a retrofit to address the issue - is it worth me looking at the retrofit?
Issue that if I get on it hard there is vibration which I noticed when I drove it. In fact the dealer told me they knew about it and it was an "unbalanced drive shaft" and it would have cost them $700 to fix at their shop rates so they didn't do it. What the heck is "unbalanced" and how does it get that way? Any chance a driveshaft from ny '97 Aero will fit it (since that car is probably not getting fixed at this point)? I guess not lots of parts are interchangeable between them.
That's about it - seems like everything else is good. I'd like to fix those things I mentioned though. I appreciate any advice and comments. So far I am loving the car very much.
