2004 Aero SW, 99k.
Went on binge this weekend, repair binge that is...2 motor mounts, torque rod, CPS, serpentine long belt, 2 idler pulleys, tensioner pulley, cabin filter...all went pretty well until the end. I noted both motor mounts had allowed the motor to drop about 3/4 inch. I had a hyd. Jack under the trans. For the drivers side and had to raise it about 3/4 inch so things fit. no problem there.
The one on the passengers side is an issue. I had the same 3 ton jack under the oil pan with a section of 2x4 as a pad. I fit it up flush so the motor would not drop and removed the yoke and pulled the mount to facilitate access to the belt and pulleys. The pulleys are are PITA, I went from the short to the long, so you know which one was the challenge... When I put it all back together the yoke with the new motor mount did not mate well with the motor. I jacked the the engine up but it did not raise it from the position on the oil pan. I fear that any more pressure on the oil pan will break it. Is there a better place to raise the engine?
Guy at work with 9-5 broke his oil pan doing this and told me it is not wise to use this as a means to raise the motor. Is there a better point? Everything I see here involves cranking on the flimsy oil pan...........
