you forgot to account for your electricity costs. Assuming it is 44 vs 60 mpg difference, then it would require 935/(1/44-1/60) = 155,000 miles (and it would have been more without incentives).
As for residual value after 155k - Li-ion battery life has not been as proven as Prius NiMH in real life so I am not yet convinced they will survive that far with typical usage (i.e. full charge/discharge cycle almost every day). As a data point, Nissan Leaf batteries are already not fairing particularly well in hot climates.
My electricity costs are $0.175/kWh so for me owning a plug-in makes even less sense. Which is unfortunate since I like the concept. I think the utilities should introduce a separate rate for nighttime car charging.
