OG9-3 owner looking at 2007/8 9-5 2.3T Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Sat, 5 Jul 2014 18:04:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My current daily driver is a 2000 9-3 hatchback with 225k miles. It still runs fine with some recent normal wear and tear repairs, but I realize it will not run forever and am beginning to think about my next Saab.
I had been looking at some 9-3 sportcombis, but also wondering about the 9-5 sportcombi with the 2.3T engine. Is it considered a T7 trionic system (like I am used to with the 9-3) or does that not even really apply with the 9-5. Is the 2007/8 2.3T generally considered as dependable as the earlier 9-5s? What about the automatic transmission? I usually prefer the manual, but those are harder to find.
Any known issues with the 2007/8 9-5 2.3T to watch for? Does it have a timing chain like other Saabs or a timing belt (which I think was only on some V6 models)?
