I have one of each, OG9-3, '06 9-3SC, and '08 9-5 Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 6 Jul 2014 05:24:46 In Reply to: OG9-3 owner looking at 2007/8 9-5 2.3T, NCCaniac [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 5 Jul 2014 18:04:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The 9-5 uses the T7 engine management system, the 9-3SC uses the T8. The 5-speed autos in both the 9-3 and 9-5 are sensitieve to ATF condition. I need to fllush and fill, or multiple drain and fills, after 35K to 40K miles. Shifting becomes slightly strange with flares between up shifts or delayed shifts.
I would say my '08 is as reliable as my 2000 9-5, the one I drove for over 300K miles, but the refreshed front end makes some routine maintenance (coolant drainage and headlamp replacement) trickier.
