Update...finally got the sick Saab dragged to a friend's house where we can work on diagnosing the problem. Last night, with a full battery, and friend in back seat with fuel pump accessible, determined that the pump was energized for a couple seconds when the ignition was turned on. When turning the key to the 'starter' position, and the engine did crank, there was no reading on the tachometer.
Based upon Dean's comments on another thread and Swedecar's comments on this thread, it certainly looks like the problem is the two year old/26,000 mile CPS. Unless someone can tell me why that in not the likely problem, I plan on ordering a CPS today.
That, however, raises another question. On 'Amazon' I see CPS units priced from the inexpensive (CHEAP!)unit from Epower Mall at $8.49 including free shipping to the Bosche unit for $81.11. I assume there is a difference, but...?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a brand and source? Obviously, since I'm almost a full time pedestrian with the car not working (unless I have a rental car), time is of some essence, as is price.
Thanks in advance
