I had something very similar happen to me on my old 88 SPG. It had over 100k on the clock and the responsible parties insurer initially offered 2500.00, My medical bills far exceeded that (ankle reconstructive surgery). Finally settled for 4000.00 for the old Saab and they let me keep the car, it was still drivable and I sold it as a parts car for 1250.00.
Your medical costs will likely exceed that or may already have...get your receipts together and assemble your case of why you think it is worth more - you can use this to apply a bit of leverage, rotator cuff diagnosis requires MRI and rotator cuff injuries can bother you for a long time...I have dealt with mine for over 10 years and recently had surgery. Try everything else before you resort to this. Even post surgery I have at least 6 months of rehab. The injections never gave me more than 3 days of relief.
Glad you are still here to tell us about it. Structurally, the car did its job, but the side air bag should have deployed. There is a sensor right in the center of the door frame that should have triggered it.
