Steve,
I lay min eon its side under the false floor in the back of my '03 wagon. I keep a full size (225/45/17) spare in there (one of my winter wheels) and managed to place the DIC in there as well after I made a small cut in the Styrofoam piece that secures the tool kit.
I think I should take a photo of the exact orientation as this has come up before, and I've heard many people say that they can't fit the DIC in there while still closing the floor completely.
(I too have a spare fuel pump, but I keep it on the shelf in my shed. Maybe I should make a habit of taking it with me whenever the car leaves the county.)
Cheers,
Peter
