Do Saabs do a high temp burn off upon vehicle shutdown, at one time they did . But last time I cleaned my MAF a few months back there was some noticeable contamination on two of the filaments.

I wouldn't think these would be subject to much wear over the lifetime of the auto - I've never replaced a MAF, my 1986 9000 was the 1st auto I owned with one and that one lasted well over 200k miles.

They have to be cleaned properly - 3 or 4 sprays of that costly cleaner, my method is to soak it for 4 plus hours or overnight in isopropyl alocohol.
