I'd
Take out not just the seat bottoms but the whole rear seats;
Leave the usual spare tire home. At least if you use a full size spare (as I normally do) go back to a doughnut;
Leave all floor mats at home;
And "short pit". Refuel often, but never more than a half tank of fuel on the return leg.
+
Make a notebook on the way over of all the dips and bad spots on the road, and take special pains to slow for them on the load leg.
