Don't think it's that easy to define. There's nothing in the oil to be time restricted. If there were something then none of the synthetics would be in use for years at a time.
I worked in the aviation world all my working life and dealt with synthetic oils used in turbine engines. The problem was that the additives in them tended to settle in the can. You would open a can of oil, pour it into the engine, but all the good stuff would still be in the bottom of the can which would now be in the draining rack.
Solution was to vigourously SHAKE the can to get all the additives back into solution before use. I still do it with the AMSOIL that I put in our 2004 Arc.
