'09 Aero - full exhaust upgrade Posted by serge [Email] (#1363) [Profile/Gallery] (more from serge) on Thu, 10 Sep 2015 20:30:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
...another suppliant search for wisdom, in this case about exhaust systems. I noticed a change in exhaust tone a couple of days ago that has now grown louder and looser quite quickly. I haven't yet pinned it down as to location, DP or aft of the cat. As it's probably the last Saab I'll have (after 41 straight years), I want to keep it on the road tearing things up for a long time. So, I'm looking at replacing the entire system from the turbo back.
I'm looking at the Krona system, the Taliaferro 3" DP and race cat, and something from Viva Performance (?). I want it to be in stainless, fer shur, and lifetime for warranty. My questions are pretty general for anyone who has swapped out the entire system, what manuf. did you choose, what kind of sounds were you looking for, i.e. advice from experience.
I'm a little skittish about the sound of the 3" Krona system. I mean, it sounds brilliant, but it's awfully throaty to the point of maybe-too-much. It sounds less like the stock system and more like the MSS exhaust on my '71 96. The Taliaferro 3" DP is supposed to bolt up to a stock cat-back setup. Has anyone tried that? Sounds like a compromise. Anyhoo, if you can spare the time and energy to respond, I'll be greatly indebted to you.
TIA
serge
