Update - programming new SID on 2006: SUCCESS Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Thu, 29 Oct 2015 17:53:58 In Reply to: Will programming new SID on 2006 fix Radio "LOCKED" ?, Mark in Marine [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 17 Oct 2015 11:30:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks, Bernie and Brian. Here to report success.
I took my daughter's '06 9-5 Sport Combi to Andrews in Princeton, MN today for four wheel alignment and programming new SID (aka ICM)- the one that sounds alarm chimes and controls the information menu on 2006-2009 9-5's.
They made it all work! It was apparently a little more effort than just programming preferences - I think they had to make sure the new SID and radio both knew they belonged to the car's VIN. They did not have to use the old failed unit in any way (thank goodness - though I had it along).
I had them adjust how the car's light switch worked as well - I have always liked the ability to just leave the switch "on" and have lights go on and off with the ignition. But as we received the car the light switch was 'disabled' and the "off" and "parking" positions did not turn the Xenons off if the ignition was on.
Hope this encourages you, Brian.
