Thanks all - sensor was indeed not seated properly - popped it in and immediate strong start. Yay. Still need to test drive to see where things stand with the codes. Also found when I started this job that wastage actuator rod had come loose (missing clip). That's after like 2 years of no boost because i assumed I needed a new turbo (after putting it through two shops who didn't find this incredibly obvious problem - makes me wonder what they actually looked at). Amazing what you find when you go look for yourself. I was able to get it started earlier and gave it a quick run with the turbo actually kicking in. I missed that! This is a car I'm just nursing along for a while as a 3 mile commuter and weekend errands. Total list of things that could be fixed is a page long so I'm just focusing on reliable running, safety, and emissions test. Car is near end of life with rust and other problems; there's no economic return on doing anything more than keeping it on the road, as long as I can DIY and parts aren't too expensive. Saabs in the family since the 80s but it looks like that run is just about over (guess I can still count my mother-in-law's 9-3). Pretty sentimental about finally giving up the Gary Fisher wagon that's been my driver for 15 years.
