Much easier than I thought. I had to pull the ACC unit and push the radio connectors in when reinstalling the radio.
With the right plastic pry tools you don't have to remove the radio to get the SID out. The car we have was made in March '04. The SID removed from the car was made 12/16/2004 ('05 model year) and carries PN 12761131 and Software version 02.2. The one I put in the car was made 2/8/2004 so the model year now matches the car's chassis. It is PN 12758907 and Software version 02.0. The SID units are physically identical but have different display items. The earlier one has a speed warning, an alarm, and an estimated time of arrival. The later one doesn't have these features.
What was I was trying to resolve were erratic lighting levels in the dash lights and random seat belt warnings. There is a sensor in the SID that controls lighting levels. The one I installed is back to normal. I was also getting all sorts of oddball random chimes for the airbag and seat belts. When that happened the dash lights would sometimes wink off for a second or two. We'll see if this replacement SID fixes the issues. So far so good.
The seat belt light near the mirror works normally so that leads me to believe the seat belt switch and wiring are OK too. My OpCom laptop tool reveals no codes for any of the chassis electronics like the Air Bag.
Setting speed alarm levels and clock alarm are accomplished by simultaneously holding the "Set" button and the "+" or "-" buttons.
The car has SaabAux for the radio but I can't see how that would effect the SID.
