A/C Line installation questions - longish. Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Sun, 5 Jun 2016 14:47:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We have an '04 9-5 Aero 4cyl Auto trans. I replaced my radiator in '13 and had the fans out. There's a screw that holds a line to the bottom of the fan shroud. I think it's a transmission cooler line. I thought I'd reinstalled it correctly but probably not exactly as it should. Any words of wisdom here? The line rubbed against the A/C line that runs from the receiver dryer to a junction block behind the passenger headlight. The part number for the line is 5047006.
This is the smaller of the AC lines that runs along the front sub-frame rail. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on replacement of this line?
I have the WIS and it's not entirely clear. It looks like it gets installed from the bottom and the vertical section is then fished up behind the passenger headlight to join with the aft portion of the line that goes to the expansion valve. I know the passenger's headlight has to come out, as do the fans, and the MAF has to get moved out of the way. Is there any special way to twist the line to facilitate installation? If the car were on a lift the line could be dropped down from above and then fitted to the cross member.
I'll pay particular attention to the trans line at the bottom of the fan shroud. The tech that helped me find the leak suggested putting plastic tubing affixed with cable ties around the AC line where it is in close proximity to the trans line.
The aft portion of this same line has a fitting near the strut tower for charging the AC. Does anyone know if this fitting is replaceable? There appears to be a split line on the outside of the fitting but there's no hex on which to affix a wrench. Light compression with a vise-grip perhaps?
Thanks,
Doug
