Turbocharger bearings are exactly where a thinner oil, but one with great thermal stability, is indicated. Very high turning speed and low loads. But then the Mitsubishi turbochargers are not known for failures, period. I'd be more mindful of the main and rod bearings when selecting oil viscosity. The Saab lower end was designed around 30 weight oil with a 160 degree oil cooler. The 9-5 runs with a 220 degree oil cooler. Conventional single grade oil viscosity drops the equivalent of one grade (30 weight to 20 weight) per 20 degrees (Alas, I forget if it's F or C =8-O). Multigrade oil can lose viscosity in high shear environments, depending on the amount of viscosity modifier. Synthetics have relatively less.
