2003 SAAB 9-5 AERO automatic 180,000. Had a code P0336. The car was surging under load. don't think the CPS was ever replaced.
Read lots on how fiddly it can be. I have also heard stories of seized 6mm screw with 30 Torx head. I was worried about not being able to get this out. BUT the job went well.
Removed the heat shield over the turbo, and the O2 sensor before the cat. used a 1/2 drive with swivel and a 30 torx bit. 3/8 drive would work well, but I did not have the bit or the swivel in that size.
I did this from above. It is tight in there and the heat shield makes it a bit more difficult, but patience pays off.
Luckily the screw was not frozen. I did spray some liquid wrench on it but I am not sure how effective this was. I made sure the torx bit was new and all the way in, and the extension and swivel worked well. the screw was in such good shape that I re-used it.
Bought the CPS from PartsGeek. It is a Bosch part. They have quite a few Saab parts and provide fast service. I like eEuroparts, but I am in CA so I have to wait. PartsGeek usually ships from Burbank CA which is 15 miles from me and I get stuff over night almost. I have also bought a/c parts from them.
New CPS cured the problem.
