Good point about needing something to help work the trim into place. Thin plywood or similar might work too. Did you need much pressure or just to push it into place. I'm wonder about using a dowel.
A slow cure time could be challenging, depending upon the weather. How much adhesive did you use and in what pattern: bead, dots, something else?
Will it be obvious as to where to position the top of the strip? It sounds like it might not be if my upper trim has shifted. I didn't notice any obvious positioning tabs on the lower strip.
My theory is that the first dealer to service the rollers didn't handle this strip well. I'm now on the the forth or fifth set on that door. Hopefully, a new strip will give the next set of rollers a long life. When the rollers break, the window going out of place puts extra wear on all the other rubber bits which aren't too resilient on a nearly 14 year old car.
