In all likelihood, yes, those other symptoms should clear up.
Because the cylinder is staying depressed, the car thinks the key is still in the ignition and is suppressing all of the behaviors that are normally activated when the key is removed.
Try jiggling the key as you remove it and see if the cylinder works its way up as well - that will help confirm. You still will probably have to removes and clean things, but maybe you can at least restore normal function and slow the battery drain.
