I'm curious to see what others say about this. My wife's 2000 9-5 is getting new inner and outer tie rods when we make an appointment for new tires and an alignment. Both ends are pretty floppy, but at least they don't feel like the grease is gone or there's excessive play. They're just loose. Personally, for the cost, I'd replace both parts anytime I'd replace one.
