Maybe not related. Years ago on the 4 cylinder engines, there were a couple of cases where the oil pressure relief valves were stuck. This is a simple spring and piston affair and the large hex cap was accessible from below the engine. [I have no idea if access is blocked on the 9-5.] The fix was a simple operation, removing burrs on piston etc and putting it back. There is no problem from scores on the piston so you do not need to worry about that.
In these cases, getting the scored pistons out may require some ingenuity.
You can probably reuse 9355389 gasket.
The oil pressure relief valve is upstream of the filter so the relief valve is exposed to unfiltered oil. Damage can have started the engine was young if there were some machining debris.
It opens when oil is cold when flow resistance of the filter and engine is high. I had the same issues with a 1969 Opel GT, after I dropped the pan and checked bearing clearances of crank and rod big ends.
