It becomes problematic in several ways.
First is that the owner have diagnosed the problem using internet. Many shops stops listening right there and only either refuse to work on the car or do exactly and only what the customer tells them to do, no questions asked.
The second problem is when supplying your own used parts or "supposedly" new parts. The shop cannot possibly know if they are ok or not so their heart might not be into the repair as much as if they had started from new at the beginning.
It sounds to me that something else is probably wrong like the Network BUS is down for some reason.
How good is the repair shop? Some are better than others and some are willing to go further than others.
Change key battery is only for the remote but it comes into play when trying the override bypass function.
