All depending on how good they are with the Tech 2, you can test quite a few things but as I said, it all depends on the interest and how much time you want to pay for for them to diagnose the problem.
I remember a few cases years ago especially on the OG9-3 that was not equipped with CD changer. The multipin connector in trunk for the CD changer was hanging close enough to rear fender that it started to build up corrosion making electrons wandering between connector and fender. That took out the BUS making the car refuse to start.
I have only seen one car myself but it was quite interesting to see the trace of green stuff between fender and connector and when I separated the two, the BUS came back to life and car started.
