This all started with a newly-purchased 2000 9-5. I found a section of the lower hose on the TB to be paper thin so needed to replace. Then the idea was just to simplify things. If it's not needed, why have it? After some research, I found that those who did this on other cars have not encountered a problem. As you say, icing is possible, but how would I know for sure? By removing the hoses. Given all that, I guess I've chickened out and just bought two new hoses since this car requires other work and I don't want to do any experimenting right now. Besides, I'm planning to check all the pcv update hoses and found out that one of them is supposed to run alongside the coolant hoses inside an insulation blanket? This car doesn't have that and I don't know if it matters much. Thanks for responding!
