There are six total bushings. Two front, two middle, and two rear. It's the rears that go first. The loss in performance is gradual and many won't notice it until they're replaced. When they're nearly totally gone the sub-frame can contact the body and it will sound like exhaust parts hitting the body on some bumps.
The rears can be replaced without dropping the subframe provided you have the right tooling (Vauxhall Rose-bush tool). The front and rear pairs carry the same OE part number. There's a different OE part number for the middle pair. Look around on the board for them.
My indie had a VERY hard time installing the Pro-Parts bushings, and I had provided the OE ones as back-up so we used them. PowerFlex makes very good polyurethane bushings IMO but they're pretty expensive. I have them in by BMW diff carrier and am very satisfied.
For a view of where the sub-frame bushings live, see link to PowerFlex.
