Saab came out with its own repair shaft when the blend door bell crank was broken.
That repair tube is a tad too long and create problems with motor shaft pushing bell crank into the A/C selector drum + you still end up with using the plastic stop arm that will break later on.
The aluminum tube with stop arm mounted is a better choice but yes, it has to be pushed in properly.
It can also be tricky to make the motor shaft rotate and mate since there is two positions it pops in a little but only one of them is the right one.
