Hello,
I guess I can atleast muddy the water for a little more. I can think of atleast 3 strange cases with different problems that presented themselves similar to this. They were all hot heat soaked rapid idle fluctuations after car sat that did not set any trouble codes.
One was an alternator voltage regulator. It was causing the voltage to fluctuate from 12 to 14 volts rather quick. This was a few years ago and a friends car so I just changed out the voltage regulator and that solved it. Being that it was sort of a guess due to that fact that the idle fluctuation could be the causing the voltage change. It was actually a Hugo branded voltage regulator and I would normally use a Bosch.
One was an AC compressor that was locking up. At the time I had this one I had recently had one were the compressor was stalling the engine. So I worked off a hunch and removed the belt quickly when it was acting up and it stopped doing it.
One was the t7 control unit. This was one I thought was a throttle body but it acted up after changing it. I remember trying some other spare parts but they did not change it so I had some extra T7 control units so I just tried one and it worked.
All that being said I have seen many throttle body's that would act up when hot without throwing a code for awhile. But they usually will eventually throw a P1231 tps sensors 1 and 2 sum out of range(no limp home). Or go to full failure and go into limp home.
I will also note that on all of these cars I had studied live data on the tech 2 and was unable to see any readings that appeared abnormal. Also they were all smoke tested for air leaks. Most likely fuel pressure was checked as well as possible other diagnostic tests. Good Luck, I will continue to ponder your problem and see if any other similar cars come to mind. Again, good luck, Bernie
