Heater Core replacement? Posted by mlc [Email] (#1747) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mlc) on Wed, 27 Sep 2017 11:54:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
sorry for a partially redundant thread...
I think I've narrowed down my no heat condition down to a clogged heater core, based on the fact that one of the two silver/aluminum pipes connecting to the core, next to the cabin filter, is very hot, while other is barely warm.
Given these symptoms, can it be anything else? I'm wondering about the bypass valve on the firewall, but the fact that one pipe is very hot, leads me to believe that the valve is allowing the coolant to move freely into the core, which would rule out the valve.. is my thinking correct.. ?
If so, is the replacement straightforward? (2001 lpt) looks like removal would consist of removing the 2 feeds from engine bay into the firewall.. then remove the clamp holding the 2 aluminum core lines in place. and then removing a few screws .. to slide the old unit out?
