I just replied to your earlier post -- yes, it was that easy in my car (2003), and if your part is 5045836, it is available for $58.00 (Valeo) at RME (where I got mine a couple years ago). You'll want the o-rings and something absorbent to catch any coolant so it doesn't mess up the carpet.
If I recall correctly, all the pipe disconnecting work was under the dash. The heater pipes disconnect with one of those PAD fittings right at the heater core. You don't need to pull them out through the firewall.
I didn't check other sources -- it may also be reasonable at eEuro.
