You can remove the ABS controller easily (4 screws?), mail it away to BBA Reman (and others too) and receive back a repaired unit within a week. Some owners continue to drive the car after carefully wrapping and sealing the ABS body with plastic. I scheduled the downtime for a vacation period and left my 2000 9-5 parked until the repaired unit arrived.
Back then, circa 2005, a new ABS controller was ~$2,500 plus Dealer Labor to install. The repair was ~$120 and all my labor to Remove & Replace. My wife immediately stopped complaining about the time I spend on this site after seeing the cost difference!
